Community shares the love for Langley health care
Events and fundraisers provide essential resources for local health and wellness needs - and this team is here to help!
From a children’s lemonade stand to a large country music festival, fundraisers for health and wellness needs in Langley share a common thread: community.
Through the first, Kim’s lemonade stand, a group of local children raised $346.15 last summer to benefit local health care. And at Langley Taekwondo Academy, students and staff raised $3,500 for Langley Memorial Hospital at their annual Christmas Party and first-ever break-a-thon event.
Big or small, every dollar helps, and the vents - fun, engaging opportunities to support health care in Langley - just keep coming!
Looking ahead to July 11, a small army of volunteers will once again bring Langley’s Jamestown film set alive for Gone Country Jamestown 2026, raising funds for cancer diagnosis and treatment at Langley Memorial Hospital. The event will build on last year’s success, which contributed $134,000 toward a $2.1-million campaign to renovate and equip Langley’s new mammography clinic with the best in modern technology.
Can’t wait until summer for a musical tribute to local health care teams? On April 25, The Meeks Duo - pianists Scott Meek and Clare Yuan - present a fundraising concert at the Rose Gellert Hall in support of Langley Memorial Hospital. For the musicians, the effort is personal: following a trip to the Langley Memorial Hospital Emergency Department, they were struck by the skill and care of the medical team, but also the great need to support their efforts.
Community is the heart of health & wellness fundraising
Through these events, and many others just like them, the residents, non-profits and businesses drive change at the hospital and in the community, says Jacqueline Leclerc, Corporate Partnerships at Langley Community Health & Hospital Foundation, who works with organizations big and small who want to give back to local health care.
From emergency department diagnostics tools to youth mental health supports at Foundry Langley, “the funds we’re raising support needs not covered by the government,” Leclerc notes.
“Everyone has had an experience in one way or another with our local health care system, and they want to ensure the equipment and resources are there when they or a loved one needs it.”
For the seniors at Venvi Renaissance Living, for example, the $1,790 raised at their on-site “Country Store” was earmarked for hospital equipment and service needs. At Langley’s Hope for Children Thrift Shop, $6,120 supported purchase of a Panda Warmer, a specialized neonatal warming bed for the maternity department. “That was amazing - they’re very focused on giving back, and specifically to health and wellness for children,” Leclerc notes.
The Foundation team is here to help
No matter what fundraiser you have in mind, from cookie sales to a golf tournament and everything in between, the Foundation team is ready to help.
“Many companies really want to focus on having their employees engaged and involved in the fundraising efforts,” she explains. “Everyone in our community is so caring and supportive of their neighbours, and there’s so much need for health and wellness funding right now.”
