Langley shows its heart with April health care fundraiser

Langley will come together for an evening of community, celebration and purposeful giving April 10, when Langley Community Health & Hospital Foundation hosts its seventh annual Giving Hearts Gala.

Hosted at Mirage Banquet Hall, the evening will feature a traditional South Asian banquet dinner, live entertainment and cultural elements inspired by Vaisakhi, a spring festival that celebrates renewal, gratitude and the importance of giving back.

The evening will also support the Guru Nanak Dev Endowment Fund, which provides Langley’s medical teams with essential funding and support so they can respond quickly to patients’ needs.

“The Giving Hearts Gala captures the spirit of Vaisakhi while answering a very real and urgent need,” says Bob Sangha, member of the Giving Hearts Gala committee.

“Vaisakhi is about generosity, service and coming together as a community. By growing this endowment, we are helping secure strong, compassionate care for our community today and for generations to come.”

Help build endowment fund for Langley health care needs
Last year’s Giving Hearts Gala welcomed more than 250 guests to launch the Guru Nanak Dev Endowment Fund.

As health care needs at Langley Memorial Hospital continue to rise, the Foundation encourages donors to help meet or surpass last year’s $331,000 fundraising milestone - a significant step toward the goal of creating a $1 million endowment by 2030.

The fund’s namesake - Guru Nanak - is regarded as the founder of Sikhism, and as a child gave money his father had given him to people in need. That spirit of giving is at the heart of Sikhism, Sangha says. Pairing that with Vaisakhi, and its celebration of light, faith, culture and togetherness, is the perfect union.

By continuing to grow the endowment, donors will strengthen a sustainable source of funding that allows Langley Memorial Hospital to respond quickly to urgent priorities and equipment needs.
