Help fund critical equipment for Langley Memorial
Every time Dr. Navneet Sidhu walks into Langley Memorial Hospital, she’s reminded why she chose to build her career in medicine in the community that helped shape her.
As an Internal Medicine Specialist, meeting patients during the most uncertain times of their lives, “I know they’re placing their trust in us,” she reflects.
“That trust is something we work hard to honour, because when people step through our doors they’re looking for the reassurance that they or their loved ones are safe.”
Dr. Sidhu and her colleagues care for more than 66,000 patients each year – patients struggling with anything from respiratory infections and cardiac issues to complex medical emergencies.
“The pace is demanding, but the responsibility is a privilege because Langley is my home, and I’m committed to stronger local health care,” she says.
To ensure every Langley Memorial patient has access to the most current equipment for diagnosis, treatment and monitoring, Langley Community Health & Hospital Foundation is raising funds for critically needed equipment for Langley Memorial Hospital, such as surgical scopes, ultrasound machines and fetal monitors.
The tools are essential, Dr. Sidhu, emphasizes.
“When seconds matter, and accuracy can change the course of someone’s recovery, updated equipment isn’t a luxury. It’s essential,” she notes. “As dedicated as we are to excellence, medical staff are limited by the tools provided. While some of the equipment we rely on every day still functions, they don’t give us the image clarity, speed or reliability that we need from modern technology.”
Langley’s hospital critically needs $5.5 million of medical equipment this year, including:
Surgical scopes – Tools with a camera and light to guide laser treatment
Cataract surgical tool sets – Used to replace a cloudy lens with a new artificial one Laparoscopic scissors – To cut tissue during minimally invasive surgery
Ultrasound – For rapid, non-invasive diagnosis for critically ill ICU patients
Lab centrifuge – Separates blood samples to allow testing for everything from iron deficiency to cancer screening
Fetal monitors – To track a baby’s heart rate and the mother’s contractions
Each gift, no matter the size, is a direct investment in safer care, stronger outcomes and peace of mind for every person who walks through Langley Memorial’s doors.
“When our community comes together, every dollar adds up to big improvements in care for clinicians like me. It’s a meaningful way to strengthen local health care, build long-term stability and ensure that medical care in and out of the hospital keeps pace with the needs of Langley as it grows,” Dr. Sidhu says.
